Much to my delight, I have been quite the jet setter these last few weeks. A quick trip to Paris and Rome made me realize I really need to clean out my closet to give it the proper European makeover it so rightfully deserves - please note, it is my closet and not myself that I am concerned about here. While away, I noticed several spring fashion trends which I have also seen recently in London. So obviously I knew I had to share them with you. If it's time to clean out your closet, why not replace your old garb with spring fashion trends, spotted in London, Rome, and Paris?
The Wedge Trainer: Really!

Who says you cannot be sporty while looking uber stylish? Certainly not the Parisians, that's for sure! I must have seen the Isabel Marant wedge trainer (pictured above) in every available variation while in Paris- including the faded denim version... I kid you not! Paired with some skinny jeans, you would be amazed how cool these can look. I'm thinking my good ole Jack Purcell's might need a serious boost in height, so I can stay on par with these bad boy wedges.
Peplum Dresses
Ditch the little black dress - Peplum dresses come in just about every colour!
Finally, there is a dress that you don't have to be rail-thin to look good in- hurrah! Peplum dresses are springing up everywhere, from the Champs-Élysées to the always jam-packed White Horse Pub (aka the Sloaney Pony) in Fulham. If trendsetter Blake Lively is wearing Victoria Beckham's latest peplum dress, then surely we should be embracing this look too?
Say hello to your new best friend: Ankle Boots

Yes, I know I've already mentioned Isabel Marant, but her spring Dicker Boot (and her entire 2012 collection) is a serious must buy - if you can find a pair that is. They go great with just about everything, and they completely sold out in London several weeks ago. Knock-off brands are trying to mass produce a good replica of this beloved ankle boot. Kate Bosworth seems to own a pair in every colour.. I'm not jealous or anything.

I don't think I've ever seen someone look so chic next to a dumpster!
Ombré Hair: Still on every Hollywood starlet's head

Two-toned hair, also known as ombré hair, was a huge trend in 2011 and it still seems to be in style these days, especially in Rome. Personally, I think ombré hair suits brunettes better, but I'm all for trying a low-maintenance look, although I cannot say I specialize in dip dying hair. Accentuating your roots and not seeing your hairdresser for highlights is healthy for your wallet and it makes you look on trend - now that really is a win win scenario!
Pastels are 'in' this spring

Pastels are the colors to embrace this spring. Drape yourself from head to toe in shades of: nude, mint green, light pink, baby blue, soft lavender, and pale yellow. I don't think pastels are very flattering, unless you are slim and toned. So when in doubt, go big on a pastel accessory. One can never have too many handbags right?
I'm heading up North to the land of Cheryl Cole accents this weekend for Easter, but when I return, I vow to do some serious spring cleaning in my closet. Out with the old and in with the new I say, all for the benefit of my closet of course! Before thinking about pulling off pastel trousers, enjoy treating yourself to well-deserved chocolates from the Easter Bunny.
Wishing you a very happy Easter!
Xoxo,
BLONDON
